I use a lot of cross-references in my Word documents (pursuant to para. 6.3; subject to section 8; etc.) But now in Smokeball if I insert a new numbered paragraph or section, the cross-references do not automatically update, and I have to select a specific cross-reference and update it individually. Does anyone know how to get all of the cross-references to update at once in Smokeball?

Is there a way that I ungroup the entries that have grouped on the same day and see them individually on the time & disbursements tab? Thank you 😎

A client has requested her file. The file is complex and very large (100’s of gigabytes) due to multiple parties, extensive discovery, and multiple pending cases.Smokeball database includes dozens of folders and subfolders with documents. What’s the best way to share the file with the client? Creating links for every folder would be time-consuming - and would cause the inclusion of many word documents that should not be included. Is there a simple solution?

What do you guys do for civil matters that involve cross claims?  When at times you are filing as petitioner for one pleading but as a respondent for another?

Can deleted contacts be retrieved somehow?

In a matter (say an estate administration matter for example) we do not want the file name or matter name that prints on invoices and shows at the top of the Smokeball window and that appears as “Client” to be “Smith | Jones | Roberts” (say if there are 3 personal representatives). What we want is for this to say “Estate of Jane Smith”. Can we edit our own file names/matter names? 

Why can’t I delete an expense? We have a double entry on an expense where the attorney and I both entered it and now I can’t delete it. I’ve marked is not billable so it won’t show up on the invoice but I really want it gone gone. 

I am a beta tester for Smokeball and just updated to 8.13. However, I can’t find the change log for this version. Also, why did they get rid of the feature that you could send an email to a closed file without have the closed files “open” on your matter screen?

I am wondering if there is a function for staff members to enter in trust payment requests and for these to then be authorised by an approved person? 

Is anyone else having a problem with seeing the full embedded form on their website? I’ve tried the embed code in several different locations, and it always cuts it of from the top and the bottom, which forces people to scroll down within the window to see the next question. 

How do i permanently delete the e-mails that were tagged to one matter by outlook? Do i have to go one by one and untag? 

Are people integrating the Lead forms into their practice?  How?I am considering creating an internal page for my staff to use for intake purposes and to fill the forms.

We use auto-numbering for when we create a new matter and sometimes Smokeball skips numbers.  For example, we use the year and then a file number: 23-1891.  Every now and again the auto-numbering will skip so our next matter is: 23-1893.  Any ideas? Thanks

I have a new Intake Forms tab.  It discusses LeadPro and MatterFlow which then state they are part of Prosper+.  Are these all additional services? Or is this all something that is part of Smokeball?  How does it all work?

I joined a new firm and we will be integrating Smokeball into our Real Estate and Estate Planning practice. I started a “dummy” file to look at the Wills and Trusts forms but don’t see any.  Does Smokeball not have any Wills and Forms available?? Will we need to use the forms from some other resource (IICLE) and upload them for processing?

Is it possible to have the same preprogrammed folder structure created for new leads and matters without causing folder duplication when converting a lead to a matter?As of now I have my folder structure preprogrammed for leads so that when converting to a matter, the folders transfer over exactly.  However, if I wanted to create a matter without first creating the lead, using my method, there would be no folders preprogrammed for the matter.THANKS! 

Why is there not an option to add a mediator to Parentage cases?

What is the best way to enter an attorney that works in a law firm with multiple offices?  When you are using fields in documents, SB seems to default to the main address when the address should be going to the address of the particular attorney involved in the case. Also, does anyone know how to get SB to format a letter properly?  The default in my version puts the company name above the person it is addressed to.  <<Letterhead/Addressee - Address Block - Name and Matter Contact Address>>

Will you guys be rolling out matter intake forms for personal injury/motor vehicle cases? 

Hi Everyone,I was wondering what best practices people are using for putting in Legal Assistants into Smokeball. If they add them as an attorney, or as an Authorized Contact, or something else so they’re attached to a matter and easily able to email.

Is there a way to import a csv file with case expenses? Our credit card syncs automatically to QBO, but we need to manually code in each transaction. Importing these would save an incredible amount of time and prevent errors. Is there any way to do this? 

We represent children as attorney for the child for the courts.  We select the “Child Representation” matter under “Family” law matters list. All good, except in matter searches when we filter by attorney or staff person - none of these Child Representation matters appear in the lists even though the attorney and staff are properly identified in the “Matter info” tab of the file. Our workaround has been to take the extra step and tag these matters to the attorney and involved staff. Is there a fix or was this an intentional outcome of the SB team?Anyone else have this issue?

Is there a way to add a Settlement Statement to a Personal Injury Matter or Motor Vehicle Matter? I know it is an option for a civil matter, but it would be very useful to have in a Personal Injury Matter or Motor Vehicle Matter.

When our firm substitutes out of a matter and there are future pending deadlines or events that were previously created, what is the best way to navigate this? I would like to close the matter and remove the future events showing up into outlook.
