Some of the fields that are included in the Court documents do not appear in the list of fields available to choose from - for example, I am trying to create a document that refers to Applicant and Respondent in a Family Law matter.  I can see in the field for each in the Initiating Application, but that field does not exist in the list of fields when I am creating a precedent (I have started the precedent in Family Law - Property and Children).I seem to be able to copy and paste the field from the Initiating Application precedent, but that is not an efficient way to work.  Is there a list of where all fields can be found somewhere?

Is there a way to send out an email to all of the clients that are managed by one case manager? 

I’m looking for advice on how to better streamline the Closing Statement functionality in Smokeball.Right now, I still rely on my own Excel sheets to calculate adjustments in the way that’s customary for attorneys in my area (Long Island, NY; NYC).My main challenges are: I can’t seem to change the calculation from 365 to 360 days (very minor issue) Smokeball’s rounding differs from local practice, so I end up having to calculate the adjustments separately and modify them manually. This defeats the purpose of being able to quickly balance with another attorney—bringing me right back to my customized Excel sheet. I haven’t found a way to create one fully functional Closing Statement without using multiple forms or manual edits. Ideally, I’d love to see more Smokeball template options for Closing Statements, Disbursement Sheets, and Net Funding Sheets (specific to New York and Upstate New York—though this may apply to other areas too). It would be great if these included a buyer/selle

Is there a way to bill for emails sent after the fact? I have a bunch of emails in a matter that I forgot to assign to Smokeball and did a bulk assignment from Outlook. Is there any way to bill for those emails at this point?  Similar question for Word documents.  Is there a way to bill for a document created after the fact? 

How can I obtain a Summary of my activity since August 17 to present? 

Do you find it too easy to create duplicate contacts in Smokeball? Are you struggling to identify duplicates or find yourself putting the wrong contacts onto your Matters or Invoices because there are too many “versions” of the same contact? We want to hear from you! Smokeball is currently investigating methods of tidying up pre-existing duplicate contacts and ways of making it easier to prevent their creation in the first place. can someone please advise if there is a way to filter the leads and matters by the type of matter. it seems odd that the system forces you to select this type at every turn but the filtering options in the list doesn’t have it as a field, am i doing something wrong ? 

There are a couple of old threads about the “New Outlook” and Smokeball, but since they have old information and some refer to very specific issues, I decided to start a new one.  This is to help myself and perhaps others navigate the differences between Smokeball on the new outlook and the old one, given the fact that Microsoft now seems to be actively moving away from Classic Outlook such that it is now less functional than the new Outlook.Here is my summary of the differences between the Smokeball experience on the two Outlooks.  Please correct me and update me:Linking multiple emails to a matter:  You can now do this on both old and new outlook.  New outlook provides suggested matters to link prior to your beginning a search, making the process faster in many instances. Linking matters in mobile Outlook app:  This was never supported when using the classic Outlook plug-in.  It was a promised feature for the New Outlook Smokeball add-in, but it appears to have been abandoned. When I send an email message from a matter within Smokeball, the email dumps into the general email area (this is at the bottom where all files, favorites, documents etc… are).  Is there a way to tell the program to save the email to a specific folder within the email section of that area?

We are new to smokeball and want to know if we have a client with multiple matters, is there a way to create the “master” client and then the various matters branch off of the same client?  Hope this makes sense.  Thank you!

I created a final invoice for 1/1/26-6/1/26. It remains unpaid. Am I able to void and create a new invoice from 1/1/26-current?

How do I edit the Other Party name in an existing lead? 

I need Smokeball to calendar triggered dates for various courts in California.  For example, if I enter a trial date in Orange county will smokeball calendar all relative trial dates.  Very important feature. 

I am trying to run a Income Allocation - Details report for a month period. When I run it, it organizes it in order of the client’s name. I prefer payment date, so I can more easily track with the bank. When I click the “Payment Date” heading it gives me nothing, it is read only. There has to be a way to do this, google didn’t give me anything, thanks. I have Prosper.

Does anyone know how to add both a task and calendar at the same time?

To those of you who integrate smokeball into quickbooks on the operating account why? Why not just link the actual bank account to quickbooks, code the revenue as fees and different expenses in the right accounts and  be done. Our CPA says no need to integrate the two. Expenses are logged into quickbooks when we write a check for “litigation” in quickbooks,  same as for credit card when we log that into an account in quickbooks. She suggests linking the actual bank account to quickbooks and that be that.Similar question with the trust account. Why not leave out the smokeball to quickbooks integration. Why even have the trust account on quickbooks. Smokeball seems to give everything you need, client ledger, trust ledger, then compare to the actual bank statement for a three way reconciliation, 

When I send an esignature request, it’s going out under someone else within the firm’s name using my email address. Other people in the firm who use it get emails addressed to themselves. How is it deciding what name to use?  

We use a contracted bookkeeper who, in turn, uses Quickbooks Desktop.  We are not sold on migrating to QB Online, having heard many horror stories and having a desktop file with over ten years of data.  Does Smokeball have a limited access feature whereby our bookeeper can run and download reports to track income and expenses and import the data into Quickbooks?  She has no need to access any other features.  Thanks.
