Welcome to February’s Legal Content Update. This month’s update includes a new Advance Health Directive Matter Type for Queensland, Revenue NSW updates in Conveyancing Details, and several Report improvements.
Let’s take a look!
Advance Health Directive Matter Type
This month we released a new "Advance Health Directive" matter type for our Queensland clients which is now available in the Estate Planning category. The existing Will and POA (QLD) matter type has also been updated to “Will POA and Advance Health Directive.”

Revenue NSW Update
Revenue NSW has announced that from 1 February 2024 onwards, fixed or nominal duty in the amount of $10 will be increased to $20. This change has been updated in Smokeball and the duplicates fees indicated in the Transfer Duty Calculator in Conveyancing Details will change based on the exchange date entered in the matter. What this means is:
- For contracts exchanged before 1 February 2024, the duplicate fees attracted remains as $10 each;
- For contracts exchanged on or after 1 February 2024, the duplicate fees attracted will be increased to $20 each.

Marketplace Precedents
Our Marketplace Precedents authors have also made a few updates to their precedents this month, which have now been passed on to their Smokeball subscribers:
- Lexon Insurance: Updates to the Lease Renewal and Lease Assignment Risk Procedure Packs; and
- Precedents Online: Formatting and automation improvements to several Estate Planning precedents.
Report Updates
We have also made exciting new improvements to some of the Smokeball Reports following client feedback, including the following:
- The Safe Custody - Full List report has been enhanced with the inclusion of an 'External Reference ID' column;
- The Matter - Next Steps report now has an additional column for 'Person Responsible'; and
- The Conveyancing Agents report has been improved with the addition of a new 'Matter Type' column.
