Is there a place to see Smokeball's roadmap? I know other software companies share that so people can see where features are in the pipeline.
I love Smokeball and talk it up all the time, so being able to talk about features that are in the pipeline is helpful. I am also hoping more features get added to the Lawmatics integration soon. The intake automation has been awesome!
Hello Lauren-- Smokeball’s VP of Product here. We do not currently have a public roadmap-- we have talked a lot about how to best share what’s coming up with our clients and definitely have plans to provide more visibility down the road. The challenge with a public roadmap is that software development can be unpredictable-- something that initially looks simple could end up taking months. It’s like all those shows on HGTV-- you pull up the carpeting and sometimes you find hardwood; sometimes you find the floor joists aren’t to code and you have a much bigger project on your hands.
In the meantime, be sure to catch the new feature webinars, where we do talk about what’s coming up. Webinars can be found here. I do want to share a couple of exciting items that we do have in development:
- Multiple Trust Accounts
- Virtual Receptionist Integrations
- Ability to see tasks by who assigned them and/or the tasks you assigned to staff
- Intake
Thanks for taking the time Lauren and I’m glad Smokeball is working out well for your firm!
This sounds great! I know some other software companies list all feature requests and allow customers to essentially vote on feature requests that they support to help prioritize new features. I also don’t think the road map needs to have a timeline. Instead, it would just be nice to see what Smokeball is actively considering. For example, if Smokeball was never going to expand the Lawmatics integration beyond what it is now, I would have changed out I set up Lawmatics. However, knowing that they are working on more field mapping prompted me to create more custom fields in Lawmatics that match Smokeball fields so that I wouldn’t have to change everything later on (while I understand I may still have to make changes, I feel at least I am a bit more prepared for when more field mapping becomes an option).
