I’m starting a tradition of creating a new conversation each month for members new and old to get to know each other by answering some random questions.

Whether you’ve been using Smokeball for years or are brand new here, please feel free to have some fun tackling these questions. 

Here are your July questions!

  1. If you could have any superpower, what would you pick? 
  2. Are there particular areas of law that you specialise in? What are they? 
  3. I’m creating a playlist full of favourite songs from our community members (below).

Hello everyone!

  1. My superpower would be knowing how to understand and communicate in any language (human, animal or any living creature).
  2. Areas of law I specialize in are Real Estate - Transactional, Personal Injury, Family Law, Estate Planning, Probate, and Worker’s Compensation.  Also very comfortable with Criminal, Business Law, Intellectual Property,  Real Estate Litigation,  and Civil Dispute.
  3. Really @Ben how are we supposed to only pick ONE song?!?!?  I can’t even pick one genre!  I say we need to have a theme.  How about your favorite song with a number in it?  Yep, still more than one for me, but it narrows it down.  I am feeling a little Purple love this morning so I am going to go with 7 by Prince.

@Sara Sultan I think you’re onto something there with the themed playlists. I really need a new focus/study playlist. 

Wow, that’s a lot of specializations. You could almost list the areas of law you’re not an expert in and get a shorter list!

Good morning fellow Smokeballers,

  1.  My superpower would be the ability to make John Lennon’s song “Imagine” a reality. I’d take Sara’s pick as a second choice--love it!
  2. My background is litigation, but several years ago I transitioned into elder law and everything trusts and estates, including probates and conservatorships. My litigation background serves me well as my goal now is to keep clients away from a courtroom
  3. This song choice(probably really dates me) reflects my optimism.

  1. I used to say the ability to fly. Now I would probably say the ability to heal people in a flash.
  2. I am pretty general here so I’ll leave it at that.

  1. I would have said reading minds (controllable) but @Sara Sultan is definitely onto something there! 
  2. Family law (mediation, private settlement conferences, & I do litigation support for a few other firms)
  3. I listen to productivity playlists through Calm which isn’t likely to help your playlist. Probably “Supermassive Black Hole” by Muse

Hi everybody, and what a great idea Ben!

  1. My superpower would definitely be to fly because what’s better than free unlimited travel with absolutely no traffic?
  2. I do not specialise in anything but have an admiration for Immigration and Human Rights Law!
  3. I’ve had “Feeling Good” by Michael Bublé stuck in my head for weeks now!! Also another to add is Superstition by Stevie Wonder please 😁

Ok, here we go.

1. Superpower would be the ability to convince anyone (person or animal) to do what I ask of them.
2. I’ll just leave this as a No 😊
3. Oh my, I would pick something from Prince but @Sara Sultan has that covered. So I think I’ll pick something completely different. J.S Bach Violin Sonata No.1 in G minor

Wow, we have quite the eclectic mix of songs in our playlist. All of them are great tunes though! 
 

  1. If you could have any superpower, what would you pick? 
    Wolverine style healing powers.
  2. Are there particular areas of law that you specialise in? What are they? 
    I worked in the anti-discrimination/human rights space here in Australia for a few years. But more on the policy and legislation side. 
  3. Share an artist and song name that’s an old favourite or a new obsession and I’ll add it in! 
    I love the Punch Brothers. Here’s “Julep”.

    To be able to turn invisible, because why not.  
  2. Are there particular areas of law that you specialise in? What are they? 
    I have worked previously in the property law and conveyancing industry with a little bit of experience in Estate Planning.

I would have to say super speed. Would love to be able to get things done ASAP!

I am a former paralegal with experience in Personal Injury, Utilities, Contracts, Property Damage, Family Law, and Foreclosure.

Hello everyone!  I literally just downloaded Smokeball, so I am brand spankin new. :o)

 

I am a sole practitioner in Franklin, Tennessee. My practice areas are primarily Family Law and Estate Administration.

If I could have any superpower, I would want a photographic memory with perfect recall.  That way, I could recall every statute, case, piece of evidence, etc. I needed to.  If not that, then I would want to be able to teleport myself and others so I could visit my family in California whenever I wanted.

    • Invisibility 
  2. Are there particular areas of law that you specialize in? What are they? 
    • I used to do collections for years, mainly post tenancy collections.  We had it down to a science. I loved it.

  1. For a superpower, I’d go telekinesis (no more getting up to get another cup of tea).
  2. I specialize in technology-related legal issues in both civil litigation and business. Meaning a lot of electronic discovery and tech agreements (software licenses, privacy policies, website policies, etc.)

Hi folks. I’m the new Customer Marketing Manager here at Smokeball. Excited to join the community!

  1. Superpower: toss up between flight or invisibility. (Although, I’ve been watching The Boys on Amazon lately, which has me rethinking the whole superpowers thing... 😅) 
  2. Area of law: nope! But know a lot of amazing lawyers and am excited to now contribute to helping them run their best firms.
  3. Song: Last song I liked on Spotify was Mistakes by Sharon Van Etten.
