Setting the Foundations: New “Corporate General” Matter type
Last month we branched out into the world of Corporate Law. Say hello to our new addition, "Corporate General". This matter type is simple catch-all full of the corporate specific fields we’ve mapped into Smokeball for you.
You could use this matter type as-is but it’s really there to help you get a head start as you build out your own custom workflows and processes for corporate matters run by your firm.

New & Improved Reports
We've added a new report and polished up a couple more.
Matter - Turnaround Time
This newbie is designed to help you track how long it takes to complete a matter. The report gives you an at-a-glance view of the days between a matter's opening and closure so you can continue to dial in your team’s workflows.
Register of Files Opened
This report is specifically tailored to assist our legal eagles in NSW and VIC. It ensures you're up to snuff with the requirements under the Legal Profession Uniform General Rules 2015 and the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Part 4.6 section 93) to maintain a register of files opened.
Safe Custody Reports - now in high and low volume versions
When dealing with a high volume of Safe Custody records, generating a report can be a challenge. Not anymore.
Safe Custody Full List
This version of the report allows you to generate a complete list of all your safe custody records.
Safe Custody - Filtered
You can now search and filter by Client Name and Packet Number. When searching for a Client Name, it's good practice to type at least 3 characters in the search box.
A Big List of Small Changes
We've been busy making loads of little tweaks across a vast array of forms and precedents.
Australia Wide
Our Medicare Forms section has been updated to improve clarity and ease of use. These include the Medicare Compensation Recovery - Third Party Authority and Medicare Compensation Recovery - Bank Account Details Collection forms.
Property
In Conveyancing, we've updated a number of essential forms in both NSW and QLD to keep you current. This includes forms such as the Change of Name (Form 10CN) in NSW and Claim for home or first home transfer duty concession in QLD.
Criminal
Our Criminal VIC users can now find the updated Case Initiation Notice - Defence in our County Court of VIC section, while our Employment users will find updated Waiver of Application Fee and Unfair Dismissal Application forms in the Federal Forms/Fair Work Commission section.
Family
For Family Law, we've updated an array of forms, including the Annexureto Proposed Consent Parenting Order (Current Case), Notice of Request to Inspect and Central Practice Direction - Family Law Case Management.
The updates continue in our release notes across a range of other matter types, including Estate Administration, Immigration, Litigation, Personal Injury, and Probate.
