Question

Reminders/"Tickler"

Is there a way to set up reminders to show up on the attorney’s calendar? So, say there is Discovery due on 11/1. Is there a way to show a reminder on the calendar on 9/1, 10/1 and 10/15 that Discovery is due on 11/1 for a certain matter? Or a way to put one reminder on 9/1 and then it automatically “follows” to each day starting on 9/1, until turned off? We came from migrated from a “Time Matters” system to Smokeball and the attorneys really liked that feature.

I have a feeling that the only way this can be done is to manually input reminders on each date. Any possible workarounds?

Thank you in advance.

Sean

Hi Sean,

You can use a workflow to set up task reminders/ticklers, but there is not an option to set calendar events for these.  I will share this feature suggestion with our Product team.

I put discovery due dates in the calendar as a non-billable event and use the event reminders for them.

I also came from TimeMatters and found the “following” button useful. That allowed me to schedule an event that would stay (follow) on the calendar, so it always showed up the next day until I marked it “complete” or unticked the “following” button.

One trick I’ve used is to create a non-staff user and I assign case scheduling deadlines to that user - so it shows up on the calendar (I view my calendar and that non-staff user calendar), but it doesn’t synchronize with my phone calendar. If every deadline shows up as an appointment, my phone calendar gets impossible to read with all of the clutter.

What I’d really love is if the calendar had a split view so that tasks due today would show up in their own panel, but in the same view as the calendar.
