Hi @mhoneycutt77! I just checked in with the team about this one. I can confirm that we’ve helped other firms with migrations from Time Matters.

The best approach to the migration depends on your area of law and the way your firm is set up. So we have a migration specialist taking a look at your settings in Smokeball. They’ll get in touch with you/your firm to discuss next steps.

Let me know if you need anything else and thanks for the question!

Hey Ben!!  We were told previously that Smokeball has done Time Matters Migrations.  I was just asking the User Community who has been through what we are going through now to get better tips because we are in our final week of prep before going Live and we haven’t talked to anyone at SB that has actual experience w/ Time Matters and understands what our users have been used to for the past 16 years.  We want the smoothest transition possible for our users and we don’t want to wait until the Live date and everything is so chaotic.  We have had to continually reach out to get status updates, training plans besides the two webinar demos and needed customizations.  Let me know if this makes sense.

Thank you!!

Hi @mhoneycutt77 you are making perfect sense. Let’s see if we can help reduce the chaos and get a bit more clarity going for you. The US team is of course offline just now,  I’ve followed up and will check in with them tomorrow when they’re back on deck.

I have also found a few firms who have made the switch from Time Matters. I’ll  invite them to jump on and share their experience here with you although this may take a little longer than our own internal follow up.

Hello! We have made a transition from Time Matters to smokeball. I am not sure of all the set up that was initially done in the background to get us switched over. But I am willing to share my experience. I am from a small firm and if I was giving myself advise, I would suggest adding contacts first. That would be very important. Having the contacts in smokeball will make opening matters {or current cases} in smokeball a lot easier. Then, I would suggest opening all the cases you have with time matters opened in smokeball. In smokeball the cases are called matters.  Depending the type of law you practice you might need more help from the smokeball team- they usually are very helpful and there are a lot of videos. We practice family law. But the best way to learn, for the staff ,is when they actually practice using it. For example- opening a file, setting up the billing. Adding their favorite matter templates. etc. Hope my comment helps!

Hi @mhoneycutt77. I just checked in with @GrantB and Claire. It sounds like they’re getting stuck in to helping you with the migration. I hope things are starting to shape up for you :)

@etorres thank you as always for your fantastic insights.

On standby to help with anything else!

Thank you so much for your advice!!  We do PI + WC, have 13 staff and a very large TM DB we have been using since 2007. Do you have any suggestions for any customizations that will make the transition from TM smoother?

They are a big help, but still would love to talk to someone who actually has migrated from TM.
