Question

Is there a way to prevent messages from being read if you click on them?

When I go into Messages, if i even seem to hover my mouse arrow near the message, it will mark it as read and move it down below to the read section. Is there a way to either make the period of time longer before it gets marked as read or to turn that feature off?

Hi Kim,

I have shared your feedback with the product team.  We do have an option to remind yourself about the message, but I can see how a “mark as unread option” or your suggestion could be helpful.

I would love the ability to mark a channel as unread also. I use the remind me feature constantly, but then I end up with a lot of messages in the “you“ thread, which is far less convenient.  Alternatively, I will frequently avoid reading a message until I have sufficient free time, which means I am working less efficiently - and remain in the dark about whether the message is urgent, important, or will require an in-depth review or not - but once I read it, and mark it as a reminder, it falls into the bucket of items that I will get to later, with less organizational structure because they are all lumped into the reminder thread. By the end of the day, I may have forgotten what all is in that thread, and that reminder thread is a little awkward to use. I know I can use a message to create a task, but again, for a simple issue, I won’t want to create a task which I may or may not have time to review an organize during a busy day
