How Do I Call Someone?

We use Teams for telephone calling.  All of the telephone numbers we use are stored in Smokeball.  But Smokeball doesn’t exchange contact data with Teams or with Outlook.  And that is a big problem for us.

If we could originate calls in Smokeball, that would solve the problem.  But no.

If Smokeball would synchronize with Outlook, that would solve the problem.  But no.

Does anyone have any idea how we can make sure that our telephone numbers in Smokeball are available to our phone app?

Hello Micah!

You can dial directly from Smokeball. You simply need to make sure that your phones TEL protocol is set to use Teams.  The phone number in Smokeball is a hyperlink that you should be able to click and open with whatever your default program is set to for your computer.  I have mine set to open in Zoom phone and it works great!

Sara!  That’s great!  (Actually, don’t tell anyone, but I’m embarrassed because now that you mention it I remember that I have done just that in the past!  I’m so sorry--I guess I forgot!)

Does Smokeball then create a time record for the call?

And though I definitely appreciate the ability to dial from within Smokeball, it still does not address Smokeball’s failure to synch with Outlook Contacts.

M.

Hello Micah,

The call would not be automatically recorded unless you use one of our direct phone integrations: VXT, Zoom or RingCentral.  We do have some optional connectors that might work as well. There is Bubble by Red Cactus and you could also check and see if Zapier has an integration between Teams and Smokeball that you can use.

Zapier could help with contact sync as well.  The only direct integration with a contact sync is VXT.  That is by far my favorite phone integration as it has the best integration options and features.
