Question

Editing Providers/Payors

Is there a way to edit the provider/payor without deleting all the information and starting over?   We have multiple duplicates in our system and since they have to be deleted vs merged into one I am trying to get rid of all of the ones we don’t need however this is becoming an issue when I go to the providers and there is not an option (that I see) to just change the provider or payor vs starting over.

Did you find this topic helpful?

Hi Ashley,

Please watch this webinar on the Do’s and Don’t’s of a Contact Clean up.  It will walk you through best practices for when you have duplicates associated with billing information.

Sara, I am not asking about cleaning up contacts, I do know how to do that.  What I am asking is, Is there a way to change which provider you have in a slot vs deleting the whole thing and starting over because the only option you have is to remove it completely.  I want the account number, DOS and charge to stay, I just need to change the provider name to a different provider.

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the clarification.  If you are talking about changing the provider in the Medicals & Settlement details of a matter, then no, you cannot.  As soon as you right click to remove the provider, it will remove all associated entries.  If you type over the existing provider it will update across all matters, so please do not do that either.

Sara- Is there a way to get that changed so that it can be done?  I have honestly never worked in a case management system where it couldn’t be done and I’ve been doing this for about a decade.  Thanks!

Hello Ashley,

As of now there is no way to remove only the medical provider while maintaining all other data. This is because this layout is very intricate and all data on it is related to the specific provider entered.

@Ashley2 Checking back in here to let you know that I was mistaken telling you that you couldn’t remove the Medical Provider. To remove the Provider:

  1. Click on the cell the Provider is saved in (you will see the Provider box get a bit larger and turn grey)
  2. You can then right-click in the cell and choose to either Edit or Remove the Provider

Josh- Unfortunately ours does not give us the option to edit, only remove.  We are running Prosper 9.6.16.0

I found one where it did give me the edit option, however it only gives you the option to edit the providers info.  The issue at hand is say someone accidentally entered the provider as CORE and we needed it to be CORA- there is no way to update that without starting over.  Every case management software I have used over the last 10 years has allowed you to essentially change the provider without erasing all of the other info.
