Legal Product Update July 2026 - New Succession Planning and Security of Payment Matter Types, Report Updates and More

The Legal Product team has had a busy last month with the release of 2 new matter types, the release of matter type improvements, updated rates and fees as well as a myriad of form and report updates. Let’s have a look at the highlights below! 

 

New Matter Types for NSW

 

This month we released the new Succession Planning Matter Type which is now available in NSW under the Estate Planning Category. This matter type has been designed for those matters involving transitioning the management of property (e.g. farm and the farm assets) from the older generation to the incoming generation.

 

 

We have also released a new Security of Payment Act Matter Type for NSW under the recently released Building and Construction Matter Category. In this matter type you can enter details of the Claimant, Respondent, as well as Property Details, Contract Details, Authorised Nominating Authority, Adjudicator and Adjudication Details. You can access the Support article here to find out more. 

 

 

Rates & Fees Updates

 

Following the end of the Financial Year, a number of the rates and fees across multiple States across different matters in Smokeball were updated, including the following:

  • QLD Transfer, Release of mortgage, Withdrawal of Caveat fees
  • VIC LTO Fees;
  • ACT Discharge of Mortgage and Transfer of Registration Fees;
  • (Federal) RBA Cash Rate. 

 

 

Matter Type Improvements

 

Our existing Share Sale (Fed) matter type, found under the Corporate category, has been improved to include when acting for the Company, in addition to already being able to act for the Purchaser or Vendor. Updated Support article is now available here.

 

Other Matter Type improvements included the following:

  • For WA Purchase matters, ability to enter the Stamp/Transfer Duty Assessment Due Date in Conveyancing Details;
  • For Workers Compensation Matters, added Private Health Insurer Contact and Details;
  • For QLD Personal Injury matters, added “Over Period of Time” (OPT) injury date field;
  • For QLD PI - Motor Vehicle Accident matters, added new NOAC (Notice of Accident Claim Form), ND (Nominal Defendant) and NIISQ (National Injury Insurance Scheme) Date fields. 

 

Form Updates 

 

This month we made a number of form updates, including to the following suites:

 

  • WA Family Court of WA Forms;
  • VCAT Forms;
  • Children’s Court of VIC Forms;
  • VIC Conveyancing Forms; 
  • District Court of WA Forms; 
  • Services Australia Forms; 
  • QLD QCAT Forms; and
  • ACT Access Canberra Forms

 

Report Updates

 

This month we also made the following report improvements: 

 

  • Added the new “Matter Days in Stage” report to Desktop Reports under the Standard Reports category.
  • Enhanced the “Event List” desktop report by adding a new option to group results by Location, allowing you to organise events by Location as needed.

  • Updated the “AML Report” with the following additional filtering options, making it easier to track progress and enhance compliance monitoring:

    • Person Responsible
    • Primary Person Assisting
    • Other Person Assisting
