Legal Content Update July 2024: New WA Matter Types, Duty Calculator Updates and More

Welcome to our latest legal content update. In the last month we’ve built some new matter types for Western Australia, updated layouts on existing matters, as well as continued to update our forms and precedents. Let’s dive in to the highlights below or read the full release notes here

 

Western Australia Matter Types

 

This month we continued our creation of additional matter types for Western Australia across the following matter categories:

  • Conveyancing
    • Conveyancing General
    • Purchase
    • Sale
  • Criminal
    • Criminal General
  • Litigation
    • Litigation General

Alongside the new matter types, new forms and precedent suites are also now available including forms suites for Revenue WA, the Magistrates Court of WA, District Court of WA, Supreme Court of WA, and Landgate. 

 

Queensland and NSW Duty Calculator Updates

 

From 1 July 2024 onwards, the Additional Foreign Acquirer Duty (AFAD) for Queensland was increased from 7% to 8%. We have updated our Duty Calculator in Smokeball in response to the change. If you need any more information on this please check out our Support Hub article.

 

For New South Wales, Revenue NSW has published the transfer duty rates that apply from 1 July 2024 onwards. These updates have now also been incorporated into our Duty Calculator in Smokeball.

 

SA Water Rates Update

 

For our South Australian Conveyancing clients, SA Water has increased the water rates effective from 1 July 2024. The new rates have been incorporated into our Water Consumption calculator in Smokeball.

 

Forms Updates

 

This month saw a range of forms updates across a myriad of Courts and Authorities. These included:

  • Children’s Court forms updates for VIC.
  • QRO Forms: Updates to the ‘Claim for home or first home transfer duty concession’ and ‘QLS Disclosure Notice and Engagement’ forms.
  • For QLD > UCPR Forms: updated the ‘Subpoena to Give Evidence’ and ‘Subpoena for Production and to give Evidence’ forms. 

 

Marketplace Precedents updates

 

There were also updates across several of our Marketplace Precedent offerings which included the following:

Lexon Insurance (QLD)

  • Updates to the Conveyancing Purchase and Sale suites.

Family Law Education Network of Australia (FLENA)

  • Updates to the Mediation precedents.
