Legal Content Update January 2025: New ACT Matter type, Report Updates and More

 

Hey legal eagles! We're kicking off 2025 with some awesome updates to our matter types, forms, precedents and reports. Check out the highlights below:

 

New Matter Type for ACT

This month’s update includes the release of a NEW combined Estate Planning matter type for the Australian Capital Territory: Will and Power of Attorney. This matter type also includes the Health Direction form, with intake forms to be made available soon.

 

Estate Planning QLD Updates

For the Will, Will POA, and Advance Health Directive (QLD) matter types, this month we added Doctor and Superannuation Fund contact cards as additional options in your Matter Settings.

Form and Precedent Updates

This month we also made a number of form and precedent updates across various areas of law following updates to the relevant authorities' websites. These updates included the following:

  • Child Protection (VIC) - Updated various chapters in VIC Children's Court of VIC/Research Materials folder.
  • Criminal (SA) - Added ‘Interlocutory Application for Hearing by Audio or Audiovisual Link’.
  • Estate Disputes (SA) - Added ‘Notice to Potential Claimant.’
  • Family (Federal) - Added a non-automated version of the ‘Financial Statement’, and updated the ‘Family Law Practice Direction - Appeals ’, ‘Child Impact Report - FAQ’ and more.
  • Intellectual Property (Federal) - Updated several IP Australia Trade Mark forms.
  • Personal Injury/Victims of Crime (VIC) - Deleted ‘Application for Variation’ from VIC Forms/VOCAT due to no longer being provided by the source.

 

Marketplace Precedents Updates: Lexon Insurance

In the Conveyancing (QLD) Lexon Insurance space, we made a large number of updates across the Residential, Commercial, Purchase and Sale precedent suites.

 

Reports Updates

In terms of report updates, we also updated the Matter - Full List Report with new fields and filters for more detailed insights.

These changes included: 

  1. Additional Fields Added:

We have incorporated new fields into the report. The newly added fields are:

  • Matter Description
  • Staff Tag (with an associated column and filter for Staff Tags)
  • Current Status
  • Closure Date
  1. New "Included Columns" Filter:

A new "Included Columns" filter feature has been added, allowing users to view the total number of fields available in the Matter Full List Report. The default fields in the report will remain the same as those currently available.

  1. Matter Numbers Linked to Smokeball:

We have added a feature that links matter numbers to their corresponding matters in Smokeball, making it easier to navigate the matters within Smokeball.

  1. Sorting Functionality:

A sorting option has been incorporated, allowing users to sort the report by various fields.
